Privacy policy
This page explains, in plain words, what CivicLeder does with information. We keep collection small on purpose.
1. Who we are
CivicLeder is a citizen guide app for Delhi. It helps you understand civic problems and find official contacts. It is not a government service and it does not file complaints for you.
Contact for privacy questions: hello@civicleader.app
2. The short version
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not require your name or phone number to use the guide.
- Public alerts are anonymous. Other people do not see who posted.
- We only ask for what the feature needs (for example a photo of a problem, or location for a draft).
- Official Call and Open buttons use publicly listed government contacts, not your private inbox.
3. What we collect
Information you choose to add
- Report guide drafts: category of issue, answers you tap, optional photos or short video, optional place notes, and Status you record yourself. This is for your notebook, not a government filing.
- Public alerts: place or building name, short description, one photo, and approximate location when you allow GPS. No name, no phone number, no email is attached to the post.
- Support email: if you write to us, we see whatever you put in that email.
Information the device may provide
- Location: only when you allow it, to suggest where a problem is or to attach coordinates to a public alert.
- Camera or photo library: only when you choose to add a photo or video.
- Anonymous device code: a random code stored on your phone so you cannot verify your own public alert twice. It is not your name and is not shown to other users.
What we do not collect for the core app
- Full name
- Phone number
- Government ID
- Payment details
- Contacts list
- Advertising profiles for selling ads about you
If a future feature needs more data, we will say so clearly before you use it.
4. How we use information
- To show you the guide and contact options you asked for.
- To save your personal notebook (My Cases) for you.
- To show public alerts to other users and count “I see this too” taps.
- To keep the app working and fix bugs.
We do not use your data to sell products to you.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share public alert posts with your identity, because we do not attach your identity to those posts.
We may use trusted technical services (for example cloud storage or a database) only to run the app. Those providers should process data under their own security rules and only as needed to host the service.
We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from serious harm, in good faith.
6. Public alerts and anonymity
Public alerts are meant for safety tips about places, not about people. Do not post someone’s private details, photos of faces without need, or content meant to harass.
Other users see the photo, place name, description, time, and verify count. They do not see your name or phone number.
Anonymity is strong, but not magic. If you write your own name in the description, or include a photo that clearly identifies you, that becomes visible. Please keep posts about the place and the problem.
7. Profile and optional details
If the app lets you type a display name or other profile fields on your device, treat that as optional. Prefer not to add a phone number or email unless you truly need it for yourself. We do not use profile fields as a public byline on alerts.
8. Storage and security
Some notes stay on your device. When the app is connected to our backend, drafts or alerts may be stored there so features can work across sessions. We use reasonable technical care, but no system is perfect. Please avoid putting secrets into free text fields.
9. How long we keep data
We keep public alerts while they are useful for safety awareness, and we may remove posts that are old, wrong, abusive, or reported. Notebook items stay until you clear them or uninstall (for local data).
10. Children
CivicLeder is for general civic use. If you are under 18, use the app with a parent or guardian’s guidance. Do not post personal details about yourself or others.
11. Your choices
- You can refuse location or camera permissions in system settings.
- You can avoid posting public alerts.
- You can email us to ask about a public alert you posted from your device.
- Uninstalling removes local device storage for this app.
12. Changes
If this policy changes in an important way, we will update the date at the top. For big changes, we will try to note them in the app or on this site.
